Toronto and Collingwood

It has been an incredibly busy couple of days since we last wrote.

On Thursday night, we played for an incredibly enthusiastic crowd at the Free Times Cafe in Toronto. A surprisingly high number of friends from Antigonish actually made it out to the show! By the end of the night, we had the staff up dancing in front of the stage while balancing things (wine bottles, candles, etc.) on their heads. It was great!

Friday, we headed up to Collingwood to spend some time with Megan McAndrew and her family, who are close friends of the band. We had been planning on getting some R&R and hanging out, but a last-minute gig presented itself, courtesy of Meg's sister, so we packed up our stuff and headed out to a bar and played a remarkable show for an audience who had no idea what to expect, but turned out to be very engaged in what we were doing.

Tonight, we're playing in Toronto at the Trane Studio. Will update again soon!

Woohoo!

Here's some recent pictures! The top 2 are from tonight's show at the Umi Cafe. This was such an amazing show... We had all kinds of friends and family come out to see us, and we played a really solid couple of sets. The Umi is a really sweet little venue, the staff is super friendly and the food is unbelievable. The culinary highlight was a sandwich with spinach and marinated tofu and bean salad. Superb!

The bottom picture is of the band with Martin, our gracious host in Riv-du-Loup.

Riviere du Loup and Ottawa, night 1

Leaving our friend Will's place in Fredericton, we drove to Riviere du Loup and arrived at Cafe L'innocent. A friendly place on the main bar strip in town, it was a great little venue for us. Furthermore, we were provided with our own apartment above the place! The show went well, and the audience (all 7 of them) was generally receptive. We made 13 dollars, some new friends, and played a really great show.

We left Riv-du-Loup for the long drive to Ottawa, passing through Montreal in a traffic jam in the midst of a downpour just as our walkie talkies died and it was nearly impossible for us to all stay together on the road. Somehow, we made it, and the rest of the drive to Ottawa was clear and easy going. We arrived at the Elmdale Tavern, set up, and had a few minutes to check out the area before playing a couple of the most amazing, highest-energy sets yet.

We're staying with Donald's good friend Moriah while we're in Ottawa, and today we'll be busking, checking out the Parliament buildings, and getting some R&R in before our show tonight at the Umi Cafe.

Fredericton

Hello, fans of Mishra's Dream!

We arrived in Fredericton yesterday afternoon after what seemed like a really long drive, but in reality, it was only a few hours. Our show at Crumbs cafe was great, and we got to meet some really cool and interesting people from Fredericton. Unfortunately we don't have any pics or vids from the gig last night, so we're posting one of Mike Ouellette, instead.

Today, we drive to Riviere du Loup on the Eastern border of Quebec for a show at Cafe L'innocent. Woohoo!

Tatamagouche ROUND 2!

Our last-minute encore evening performance at Fables in Tatamagouche was undoubtedly one of the best shows this group has ever played. From the first note until the last, the audience was so receptive and genuinely excited to hear us play and interact. Coupled with the unbelievably warm hospitality extended to us by our gracious hosts, Hanna and Chuck, this past weekend has been one of the most exciting, engaging, and relaxing experiences in memory for Mishra's Dream.

We will be updating again with some videos from last night! Right now, we have just arrived in Fredericton and are setting up for our evening performance. Check back soon!

Tatamagouche!

We have spent 2 fabulous days in Tatamagouche, NS. We played last night at a private bar here called Fables, and have been enjoying the warmest hospitality from our gracious hosts, Hanna and Chuck. Upon arriving and unloading our gear at the bar, which is a beautiful space recently converted from a slaughterhouse to a warm, inviting, wood-paneled speakeasy, we checked into our own apartment at Hanna and Chuck's country home on the water. The property is breathtaking, with sweeping views and trails through their gardens, orchard, and waterfront. Our performance at Fables went splendidly, and there is some great video that we'll be posting soon. And they liked us so much, they've asked us to play again tonight! As luck would have it, we didn't have another engagement tonight, so we've been able to stick around and see some of this beautiful area. We spent some time busking in front of the liquor store, explored the Farmer's Market, and caught up on sleep before heading back to the bar, where we will play later this evening.

Tomorrow, we leave Nova Scotia behind as we continue on through New Brunswick to our next performance in Fredericton, and then to Ottawa by Wednesday! So far, we're all still glowing after some amazing performances, and in great spirits. Will write more after we arrive in Fredericton!
